The Tyanna Foundation Philadelphia
Improving the lives of breast cancer patients is at the heart of the Tyanna Foundation which honors a mother’s life, love, and living legacy. Tyanna Barre O’Brien lost her battle with breast cancer in 1990 at the tender age of 48. Her daughters, Anne, Bridget, Megan, Sara & Kate O’Brien founded the Tyanna Foundation and the flagship event “BreastFest” which is a yearly event in Athens, Baltimore, Dewey Beach, New Jersey and Philadelphia. The all volunteer organization raises funds which stay local to each BreastFest city. Since its inception in 1998, the Tyanna Foundation and its volunteers have worked tirelessly to increasing awareness and generating money for breast cancer services, education, treatment and patient care.
All proceeds from BreastFest Philadelphia stay local and will benefit The Breast Evaluation Center at Fox Chase Cancer Center, which offers advanced technology, clinical expertise and state-of-the-art treatment to women in the Philadelphia region and beyond. In 2014 we helped over 50 women who are un-insured or under-insured get mammograms and follow up treatment if needed through our various events including: BreastFest in September, SweatFest, MaGerk’s for Mammograms, Barnaby’s for Boobies and Pink Patio. We also partnered with Yards Beer, Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza and Brandon Graham from the Philadelphia Eagles to donate over $28,000 to the Fox Chase Breast Cancer Center.
